The Tide explores the narratives and experiences of migration within the United Kingdom, whilst holding a mirror up to an evolving British culture. It couldn't be timelier. The Tide is an artistic collaboration between choreographer Jade Hackett and writer Ryan Calais Cameron and is Talawa's first production created exclusively for outdoor performance. Having wowed festival audiences in 2019 in a production supported by Without Walls, The Tide will play a series of dates in Summer 2021 in Croydon, Stoke-on-Trent and at the Greenwich+Docklands International Festival. Performances will be 30 minutes long and feature a live soundtrack. All performances will be outdoors and free of charge. The Tide is a Talawa Theatre Company, FESTIVAL.ORG, and Breakin’ Convention co-production. #TheTide

Park up at our drive-in theatre and find yourself immersed in the modern day bohemia of London. When the struggling writer Rodolfo meets his neighbour Mimì, it’s love at first sight. But as the youthful couple and their friends indulge in life’s pleasures, their happiness is quickly dashed by the realities of their precarious living situation. This new production of Puccini’s tragic romance is performed live – both on stage and on the ground – so you’ll find yourself at the heart of the action. Featuring members of the award-winning ENO Orchestra and Chorus, we have two incredible casts of principal singers alternating throughout the run. The raised stage has large screens relaying the performance, and we will be using microphones for high quality stereo sound both outside and inside your car, so you can hear Puccini’s beautiful score.
